A successful migration preserves meaning, not just rows. Every imported credential should still explain who issued what, when and under which program rule.
Inventory the sources
List spreadsheets, LMS exports, certificate tools, shared drives and paper records. Identify an owner and date range for each source. Do not assume the newest file is complete.
Define the target fields
Map learner identifier, program, credential type, issue date, expiry date, status and evidence reference. Record the source program version where possible.
Enrolius supports certificate of completion, professional certification, CE record and digital badge. Do not convert every historical item to one generic type.
Clean duplicates carefully
Use more than email alone. Compare name, internal ID, date of birth only where lawfully held, organization and prior credential references. Flag uncertain matches for review rather than merging automatically.
Preserve uncertainty
If an issue date or status cannot be verified, do not invent one. Use a migration log to record inferred, transformed, excluded and unresolved fields. Keep the original export under the provider's retention and privacy policy.
Test a representative sample
Include:
- A current credential
- An expired credential
- A renewed credential
- A corrected name
- Duplicate learners
- Missing evidence
- A revoked or exceptional case
Open the public verification result only after confirming the imported claim is accurate.
Reconcile counts
Compare source and target totals by program, credential type, status and year. Investigate differences. A successful upload message is not proof of a complete migration.
Understand the product scope
Enrolius includes basic import/export. Complex transformation, automated third-party synchronization and every external LMS connector are not implied. Large migrations may need staged preparation outside the platform.

Frequently asked questions
Should old evidence files be imported?
Only when needed, lawful and supported by the import. Otherwise retain a controlled reference and documented archive.
Can I change a historical credential type?
Only if the new type accurately represents the original claim and the change is documented.
